"Brought in my grandfather's old Omega. I was not expecting much given its age, but the inspection report was thorough — two pages of actual notes, not vague impressions. The watch now runs within three seconds a day. That was not something I thought was going to happen."

"I sent my Seiko diver in for the self-winding service. The rotor had been making noise for months and I kept putting off doing anything about it. The whole thing was straightforward — I knew exactly what was being done and the price matched the quote exactly. No extras."

Rayong, Thailand

"Had a movement inspection done on a vintage Longines I picked up at a market. Was not sure whether it was worth pursuing. The report was honest — it needed mainspring work and one jewel was cracked. I was given the option to proceed or not. Useful information either way."

"My father's watch had not run in over fifteen years. I was not expecting anyone to take it seriously. Krit spent time explaining what was involved, showed me the parts after the service, and kept the original crown even though it was worn. It feels properly cared for."

"Sent a watch by courier from Bangkok. Packaging instructions were clear and intake confirmation came the same day it arrived. Communication during the two-week service was straightforward. The watch came back running better than it has in years."

"Used the inspection service on a watch I was thinking of buying secondhand. The report covered things I would not have thought to look for — the crown had been replaced with a non-original part, and the movement had been previously worked on without documentation. Worth doing before purchasing."

Case Studies

Three pieces, three different situations

Heritage Refurbishment

A 1960s Swiss dress watch, stopped for twelve years

Challenge

Movement had not run in over a decade. Crown missing, crystal cracked, lubrication fully dried. Owner wanted it working again without altering its original appearance.

Approach

Movement fully stripped and cleaned. Period-correct crown sourced from a Geneva parts dealer. Acrylic crystal replaced with matching profile. Dial and hands left as found — no reluming.

Result

Watch running at +4 seconds per day flat. Original dial and patina preserved. Owner received all original parts in a bag alongside detailed service notes. Timeline: 6 weeks.

"I was told by two other repairers that finding the right crown would be nearly impossible. Mainspell found one within three weeks and confirmed the reference before ordering it."

Self-Winding Service

Daily-worn automatic losing eight minutes a week

Challenge

Watch had been worn daily for seven years without a service. Rotor felt rough. Losing around eight minutes per week, inconsistently across positions.

Approach

Full disassembly, ultrasonic clean, fresh calibre-matched lubricants throughout. Rotor ball bearing replaced — original was worn. Regulated across six positions.

Result

Running at +2 seconds per day after adjustment. Rotor smooth and silent. Returned in 14 working days. Client received the original worn ball bearing in a bag as part of the service record.

"The timing was confirmed to me on a printed sheet showing readings from five different positions across four days. That level of documentation was more than I expected."

Movement Inspection

Pre-purchase inspection on a vintage Japanese dress watch

Situation

Client considering purchasing a 1970s Japanese dress watch from a private seller. Wanted independent assessment of condition before committing to a price.

What was found

Movement running but with an obvious amplitude issue — probable worn mainspring. Dial had been refinished at some point (inconsistent texture under raking light). Crown was a non-period replacement.

Outcome

Client used the written report to negotiate a lower purchase price. Went on to commission the self-winding service, which brought it back to good order. Full service cost offset against initial purchase saving.

"The inspection paid for itself immediately — the seller did not know about the refinished dial, and neither did I until the report came back."
